Compensation due to age-related decline in sit-to-stand and sit-to-walk

چکیده
Capacity is the physiological ability of neuromusculoskeletal systems; this declines with age. This decline in capacity may result inability to stand up (sit-to-stand, sit-to-walk), which an important movement for independent living. Compensation, as a functional redundancy, key understanding how much age-related can be tolerated before limitations arise. Yet, topic has been underexposed biomechanics literature. The purpose systematic review was approach literature on sit-to-stand and sit-to-walk studies from perspective compensation create overview our current standing up, identifying providing future recommendations. A search performed, using keywords their synonyms : strateg*( approach, technique, way ) AND , OR rise ( raise, arise, stand, stand-up chair seat . Inclusion criteria: full articles or motor control healthy adults (<60y), frail elderly (>60y), osteoarthritis. results show that experimental set-ups musculoskeletal models STS STW generally exclude by restricted protocols simplifications. Moreover, factors are mostly analysed isolation, excluding confounding causes within and/or objectives limits generalization results. Future task should consider (1) determine effect varying arm push-off strategies, (2) focus sit-to-walk, (3) biomechanical implications asymmetry, (4) incorporate assessments physical well changes psychological priorities.

Different Temporal Structure of Muscle Synergy between Sit - to - Walk and Sit - to - Stand Motions in Human Standing Leg
Humans do not only perform individual motion separately, but they transit motions from one to another. It has been widely known that human sit-to-stand and walking motions are composed of four and five muscle synergies, but it is not clarified how humans utilize these muscle synergies to generate sit-to-walk motion. This study conducted a measurement experiment to identify muscle synergy struct...
متن کاملSit to Stand Detection and Analysis
The ability to rise from a chair is a prerequisite for independent ambulation. Difficulty rising from a chair, moreover, is an indicator of balance deficits likely to result in a fall. In this paper we present preliminary work to affordably detect sit to stand strategies associated with balance impairment using web cameras. The long term goal is to create systems that can monitor functional mov...
متن کاملIntegrated Sit-to-Stand and Stand-to-Sit Training System Providing Biofeedback Information and Physical Assistance to Hemiplegic Patients
This paper proposes a novel sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit (STS) training system for hemiplegic patients with clonus. Most hemiplegic patients depend on the unaffected leg and perform plantar flexion involuntarily during STS movements. The developed system integrates a visual biofeedback method with a movement assistance mechanism. The system provides users’ ground reaction force (GRF) through a...
متن کاملInfluence of dual-task on sit-to-stand-to-sit postural control in Parkinson's disease.
Postural control deficits are the most disabling aspects of Parkinson's disease (PD), resulting in decreased mobility and functional independence. The aim of this study was to assess the postural control stability, revealed by variables based on the centre of pressure (CoP), in individuals with PD while performing a sit-to-stand-to-sit sequence under single- and dual-task conditions. An observa...
